Choose Belize For The Best Family Adventure Trip

Posted on Friday, January 27th, 2017

Located in Central America between Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula and Guatemala, Belize is a wonderland of golden beaches, tropical offshore islands, misty mountains, savannas, pristine rainforests, and jungles teeming with exotic wildlife. The only English-speaking country in the region, Belize is a popular family destination thanks to its warm weather, excellent food, relaxed atmosphere, and fun educational adventures like exploring sacred caves and climbing ancient Maya pyramids and temples.

One of the best ways to enjoy a wonderful family vacation in Belize is by choosing Chabil Mar’s Belize all-inclusive jungle and sea vacation package.

Families can enjoy 3-4 nights at Caves Branch Jungle Lodge located deep in the jungle of western Belize while participating in their choice of three signature tours. The package also includes one nighttime safari into the jungle or an early morning bird watching tour, ground transportation, meals, and drinks.

The beach part of the vacation package includes 3-4 nights in a luxury villa at the Chabil Mar resort, free use of golf carts, bicycles, kayaks, and paddle boards, and access to the infinity pools. The package also includes one full day of snorkeling and your choice of a trip to the Cockscomb Basin Nature Reserve or a boat safari on the Monkey River.

The above video is of a family who recently visited Belize with Chabil Mar’s jungle and sea vacation package

This excellent jungle and sea family vacation package includes ground shuttle service from the Belize City International Airport and return domestic flight from Placencia to the Belize City Airport.

Chabil Mar is an award-winning resort located on the Placencia Peninsula in southeastern Belize. The resort features lavishly appointed villas just steps from the beach. The resort has its own gourmet restaurant serving up three courses of mouthwatering Belizean and international fare, and guests can enjoy outdoor dining at the resort’s beachfront pier.

Traveling with the entire family for a vacation has a number of proven benefits. Beyond the immediate rewards of having fun together, the entire process of planning and participating in a group vacation has long-lasting benefits. By watching videos and researching where you’ll go, children can learn valuable organization and planning skills, plus they’ll be ready and primed to enjoy the vacation as soon as you arrive.

And, in this modern world where we’re often extremely busy or spend long hours staring at screen, a family vacation to Belize is a great way to break away from the normal stresses of life and enjoy healthy group activities outdoors where there is plenty of sunshine and fresh air. Seeing and interacting with wildlife in Belize is a fantastic experience for children, and exploring ancient Maya sites is a great way to become more well-rounded and cultured.

What Is Beauty By Belize!

Posted on Friday, January 20th, 2017

Here at Chabil Mar (Maya for Beautiful Sea), our slogan is “Beauty by Belize . . . Luxury by Design!”

On the surface, one could assume we have proudly chosen this slogan to reflect the aesthetically eye-pleasing and traditional architecture of our buildings and Villas or the lush landscape and flora that envelops our pools and buildings or the wondrous beauty of the entire country of Belize and all around us in Placencia. It could be the flora that we have imported from the reaches of the jungle to mingle with our local spectacular natural displays, the colorful fauna and spectacular marine life of the Caribbean, or the gentle crash of the waves on our beach. And, with each of these perceptions, you would be correct.

But . . .

On a deeper level, our slogan was chosen to reflect our true passion, to bring together guests and compatriots in a setting designed to foster those special moments in one’s life. We have chosen our slogan to cherish the beauty, hospitality and compassion of the Belizean people. It is then that we truly created a very very beautiful place.

True, a resort is what we all see in photos, a collection of bricks, wood, glass, and mortar filled with carpets, furniture, and art. And yes, these things are very important, meaningful, and even a beautiful enhancement to the vacation experience. While we love our buildings and Villas, and we do, there is a meaning of greater depth behind the phrase “Beauty by Belize” for us at Chabil Mar. We believe the true beauty by Belize is in the people of Belize. Their’s is a natural serenity, friendliness and peaceful happiness.

Enter the people, the life, the laughter, the conversations, the wonderful memories made in this space, our extraordinary service. And, the buildings are revealed to be a luxury backdrop, an additional player on hand, and a focal point where we come together to be one with Belize.

We believe that real value is the value placed by all of us at Chabil Mar on making each and every guest special and unique; getting to know them by name, understanding their passions and their joys, their wishes and their expectations; seeing a smile bloom on their face as they marvel at the wonders of Belize for the first time. Together with them we relish in their delights. Along with them, we smile in their joy at that first unforgettable photo of our barrier reef, the sight of the majesty of an egret or hummingbird in flight or as they feel the deep bass roar of a howler monkey and the surprise of a random iguana crossing their path . . . the sites and sounds of Belize and Placencia greeting them at every turn.

As one guest recently commented in a review of their Belize vacation, “From the minute you go through the gates at Chabil Mar your every request is taken care of. We were greeted like family members and treated as such from the moment of our arrival.”

What is Beauty by Belize? We invite you to discover it with us and be one with Belize, be one with Placencia and be one with Chabil Mar. We designed the luxury and now the beauty of Belize is our best kept secret no more.

The Placencia Lobsterfest

A Brief History of The Placencia Lobsterfest

The Placencia Lobsterfest began in the summer of 1998. The Placencia Chapter of the Belize Tourism Industry Association (BTIA) recognized a need to improve the local economy and decided to create an event that would attract visitors from all over world to Placencia Village. They planned for the event to coincide with the start of the Placencia Fisherman’s Cooperative annual Fisherman’s Day festivities and with the start of lobster season.

From Humility to Greatness

It was in June of 1998, at the Placencia fishing harbor with just a single table, the only party represented was The Green Parrot Resort of the Maya Beach Community from the northern Placencia Peninsula. They served lobster bruschetta and the proceedings went forward rather quietly. The small gathering invited the public to play a few makeshift carnival games to raise funds for the Placencia Chapter of the BTIA. But the humble event was successful, drawing enough patronage to double in size two years successively.

In the summer of 2000 The Placencia Lobsterfest had grown considerably, stretching down the beach beyond the docks and attracting foreign visitors. Local artisans of every stripe and performers came to contribute to the atmosphere.

Lobsterfest was well on its way to becoming an annual event to rival those of New Orleans.

A Tradition of Festivity

To keep up with the exponential growth of the Festival, the Placencia BTIA collaborated with the village council and moved the event to the Placencia Village Beach Front. Now there was ample room for the event’s 60+ booths and carnival games. Visitors enjoy the full range of Belizean sea-food treats and delicacies such as lobster fajitas, grilled lobster, stews, pies and an array of novelty confections.

Guests and participants enjoy the thrill of the Lobsterfest raffle, a fully stocked bar which is operated by the village council, terrific live music acts- all of which come together famously to create a three-day event, summertime celebration.

Since 2011, the Placencia BTIA has incorporated the Placencia Fisherman’s Saltwater Tournament in order to make room for the Southern Environmental Association’s first annual Lion-fish Tournament as a response to the environmental threat this invasive species presents to wildlife throughout the Atlantic seaboard. This, like the La Ruta Maya river racing event, has become not only a massive celebration- but it is also a great event for environmental conservation and serves as an example to the world of what can be achieved by combining grand festivals with conservationism.

Placencia Lobsterfest 2017

Scheduled from June 23 -25, 2017, the Placencia Lobsterfest is a grand celebration of the opening of the lobster season in Belize attracting thousands of local and international visitors. 2017 Placencia Belize Lobsterfest Expected to Draw Record Crowds

Posted on Wednesday, January 18th, 2017

lobsterfest in placencia 2016

An unprecedented number of tourists are expected to make pilgrimages to Belize in June, but not for religious reasons. They will come to enhance their mental and physical health as the 2017 Placencia Lobsterfest takes place from June 23rd to 25th, honoring a tradition that’s been around for over 18 years.

Do frequent visitors use this humble crustacean as a reason to escape to Belize every June? Of course they do. Talk about a vacation with a purpose: attend Lobsterfest, eat as much as you like of this low-calorie, protein-packed seafood and return home slimmer after undertaking multiple recreational/sporting events associated with this lively three-day party.

“We joke about myriad health benefits visitors get when they attend Lobsterfest, because it’s so much more than a seafood eating orgy,” says Larry France, Marketing Manager at Chabil Mar Villas, a popular high-end resort where chefs hold court at the resort’s award-winning onsite restaurant. “Our chefs elevate lobster preparation to a fine art,” France adds, promising guests the experience of a lifetime if they stay at the resort throughout this big celebration.

Curious about how this lobster bacchanal began? Members of the Placencia Chapter of the Belize Tourism Industry Association sought a unique idea to improve the local economy while introducing Placencia to visitors and showcasing its fishing industry in 1998. Lobsterfest was born.

“Our first Lobsterfest was a humble affair,” recalls France with a chuckle. “A small bunch of enthusiastic eaters gathered at a single table to eat lobster bruschetta and enjoy makeshift carnival games. Word spread that guests had a blast, and every year since, crowd sizes have doubled.”

Over time, Placencia restauranteurs turned the celebration into a friendly culinary competition, at which point, other businesses jumped on the bandwagon, so visitors eager to see what can be crafted, prepared, designed and sold related to the humble lobster are going to be impressed.

What can travelers expect at Lobsterfest? A vacation that’s part tropical island party and part New Orleans at Mardi Gras without the bad weather. Resorts like Chabil Mar roll out the red carpet for guests who are encouraged to head for Placencia Village where 60+ booths filled with arts and crafts, beverages, t-shirts, art, games and attractions await. Little lobsters won’t be ignored: fun carnival games are sure to wear kids out.

Each year, the long-awaited culinary parade introduces new palates to delights like lobster stews, fajitas, pies, exotic beverages and treats while attendees wait to hear if they’ve won the Lobsterfest raffle. Meanwhile, the ongoing music scene fills the air with Garifuna and other trendy musical genres unique to Belize.

As of this posting, organizers have confirmed these 2017 Lobsterfest events, but there are likely to be more:

-A Belikin beer drinking contest
-Biggest lobstah’ competition
-Crowning of Mr. and Ms. Physique
-Tug-of-war
-Tipsy tuna toss
-Spicy hot wing eating contest
-Kayak races and a “reel in the kayak” event that’s not for the frail
-Net casting competition (catch a schilling in a fishing net)
-Beach fly fishing contest.
